BRUSSELS, [17/11/2023] – The Brussels International Center (BIC), under the leadership of  Amb. Marc Otte, BIC President and Former EU Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, is launching a campaign for a ceasefire in Gaza, in collaboration with Members of the European Parliament. This initiative comes at a crucial time, marked by an unprecedented number of civilian casualties and widespread infrastructure destruction in the Gaza strip.

The primary goal of the campaign is to advocate for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, with a focus on promoting peace, stability, and providing urgent relief to the civilian population. The Brussels International Center believes a ceasefire is a vital step toward achieving a sustainable and just resolution to the conflict.

"As we initiate this campaign for a ceasefire in Gaza, it is imperative to acknowledge that peace is not a static destination but an ongoing process. It's time to start building a foundation for a more secure and prosperous tomorrow in the region and address the root causes of the conflict. A ceasefire not only halts the immediate suffering but lays the groundwork for dialogue and diplomacy.”

The campaign seeks to raise awareness about the human cost of the conflict and highlight the impact on innocent lives in the Gaza Strip. By collaborating with Members of the European Parliament, the BIC aims to leverage diplomatic channels and international influence to foster dialogue and bring about a cessation of hostilities.

The Brussels International Center invites all like-minded organisations and members of the international community to join this crucial initiative. To demonstrate solidarity and support for the cause, the BIC is launching a letter calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, which will be open for co-signing by international and local organisations, government agencies, Members of the European Parliament, Think-Tanks, NGOs, and other concerned entities.
