On 9 August 2021, the Brussels International Center met with His Excellency, Ambassador Nabil Ammar, Ambassador of Tunisia to Belgium and the European Union.During a frank exchange of views, the recent political events in Tunisia were discussed in depth, including the indicators and political-infighting holding down Tunisia’s democratic transition since 2011. A key topic was how to establish a truly citizen-led and owned democracy in Tunisia, as opposed to one subject to corruption and stagnation, which also highlighted the role that Tunisian civil society should play in this process.
