On Wednesday 17 June, the BIC-RHR  in collaboration with Friends of Europe is going to host a Webinar  “From conception to inclusion: 20 years into the Women, Peace and Security Agenda”. The event will be held online from 18.00 to 19.00.

In light of the 20th Anniversary of UNSRC 1325, Friends of Europe and the Brussels International Center will facilitate a constructive debate to explore different pathways and political alternatives for a transformative Women, Peace and Security agenda. Using technology to link Brussels to the rest of the world, this unique event will explore how innovative examples from the field can have a powerful impact on the way we understand policies on gender, conflict resolution and security.

By combining the power of local knowledge from women peacebuilders and policy expertise from International Institutions, this event will bring together leaders from diverse backgrounds whose practical experiences have had an impact in the promotion of peace and inclusion

Confirmed speakers include:

·       Clare Hutchinson, NATO Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security

·       Charlotte Isaksson, Senior Gender Advisor at the European External Action Service (EEAS)

·       Rosa Emilia Salamanca, Peacebuilder and Director at Corporación de Investigación y Acción Social y Económica (CIASE), Colombia

·       Muthaka Ilot Alphonse, Peacebuilder and International Programme Manager (RFSU), DRC.

The event will be moderated by Dr. Jamie Shea, Senior Fellow at Friends of Europe and Former Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges at NATO.
