End of the Year Review 2021 - Intro remarks by Amb. Marc Otte, BIC President

 

As 2021 has proven to be a year of challenges across the international landscape, Yasmine Akrimi, Ben Lowings and Shada Islam have found common denominators to the failure of policymaking, having strategic ramifications that go even further.

 

This year, our critical insights contain specific sections on the Mahgreb, including events that were significant for Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, and the effects they have had on their civilians; the failure of the international community to address international crisis, such as in Sudan, Ethiopia, Libya and Afghanistan; and major developments in the EU’s external action, with a special focus on migration policy and how it has overshadowed EU's role as a global player.
