About

In humanitarian crises, gender-based violence (GBV) is especially prevalent. With crises worldwide growing in complexity and duration, GBV remains a challenge that needs to be addressed on all levels of the humanitarian system. This is why the “Call to Action” is such a uniquely placed initiative. It brings together stakeholders from different parts of the system, with varied political and technical expertise, but equally high engagement to work on overcoming the obstacles for offering effective GBV response, prevention and mitigation.

This year´s annual meeting “The Call to Action on the Move” will be dedicated to working on four areas identified as central for the Call to Action:

- Forced Displacement and GBV
- Strengthening partnerships on the ground
- Accountability, and
- Governance of the Call to Action

The meeting will offer a space for exchange and networking, which will contribute to intensifying the existing cooperation, but also initiating new collaborations on GBV in emergencies. On the morning of 1 June, we will look back at the achievements of last year and the remaining gaps within the Road Map. This will be followed by a panel discussion and keynote on the issue of GBV in contexts of forced displacement, highlighting this strategic focus. The afternoon as well as the second day of the meeting will be dedicated to the four areas mentioned above, which will be discussed in breakout sessions: sharing information and experience and defining concrete actions for the way forward.
